Public Corruption
Public officials in all parts of government are under increasing scrutiny from the media, the public and law enforcement. We represent public officials when they are the subject of corruption investigations. We also represent witnesses with information on public corruption. Our team includes former prosecutors, so we understand how these investigations develop and how to respond to them.
Public corruption investigations run the gamut in terms of subject matter and roles in government. They include investigations into bribery, gratuity, procurement fraud, election fraud, campaign finance, kickbacks, conflict of interest, lobbying, honest services fraud, Hobbes Act extortion, obstruction of justice, witness intimidation, embezzlement, money laundering, mail fraud and wire fraud. Public corruption investigations also tend to target unions.
These investigations target individuals at all levels and roles within government, including elected officials, high level bureaucrats, police officers and other public safety officials. They also include local, county, state and federal officials, and those that interact with those officials.
Our team has deep experience in public corruption investigations in both state and federal court. We have particular expertise representing police officials and those affiliated with public safety unions.
